Cairo and Luxor (6 Days)

Five day option if you take a round trip flight between Cairo and Luxor as opposed to the overnight train.

Day 1 Arrival and welcome at Cairo International Airport.
Assisted through customs.
Escorted to your hotel.
Day 2 Breakfast at your hotel.
Full day tour begins with a morning visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza where you will enjoy a ride on Egypt’s famous “ship of the dessert”, the camel. You will also visit the Sphinx, which is adjacent to the Great Pyramids.
We drive to Memphis, the capital of the ancient kingdom.
From here we head to Sakkara, the site of the “Step Pyramid” dating from 2700 BC. It is the first of the Egyptian pyramids and the world’s oldest stone structure.

Optional evening activities include a Nile dinner cruise with belly dancing or The Sound and Light Show at the Giza Plateau.
Day 3 Breakfast at your hotel and check-out.
Full day tour starts at the Egyptian Museum of antiquities, which houses many of Egypt’s national archeological assets. These include the treasures belonging to the boy King Tutankhamun.
On to Old Cairo. Here we’ll visit the famous Coptic church. Known as the “Hanging Church” it is so named for its suspended location above a centuries old gatehouse. Behind the church is the Ben Ezra Synagogue. Originally a Coptic church it was sold to the Jews in 882 AD. When faithfully reconstructed in 1892 to represent the original, a hiding place for sacred books containing original documents from the Middle Ages was discovered.
We head off to the awe inspiring Citadel once fortress to the notorious Saladin. The Citadel complex contains the alabaster Mohammed Ali Mosque. Take in some of the best views of the city from the mosque terrace; Your afternoon ends with shopping at Khan-el-khalili, the oldest bazaar in the world.
After a full day of sightseeing you will be escorted to the station for your first class seat on the overnight train to Luxor.
Day 4 Arrival in Luxor. You will be met at the station and escorted to you hotel.
After lunch the next part of your tour continues at the spectacular Luxor and Karnak Temples.

Day 5 Breakfast at your hotel and check-out.
We head off on our half day tour to the Valley of The Kings to explore a few of the more than 60 ancient royal tombs, the majestic Colossi of Memnon, and The Mourtuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut.
In the afternoon you can explore at your leisure, do some shopping, or take a sailboat ride on a felucca.
In the evening you will be escorted to the station for your first class passage on the overnight train back to Cairo.
Day 6 Early morning arrival in Cairo. You will be met at the station and escorted to Cairo International Airport.
